CMSimple_XH Quick Start

With CMSimple_XH you can create a website in a few minutes, which you can maintain online. All you need is some webspace, a server with running PHP (from 7.4 to 8.3), an FTP program to upload files and a browser. CMSimple_XH is available free of charge (open source). It does not require a database. All data is simply stored in the file system (file-based, flat file CMS).

Online-Demo

You can try CMSimple_XH in our online demo. This can be done in different languages, it's fast and you can get an overview of different things. Disadvantage: Nothing is stored there - it should be clear why. So you won't be able to see any changes.

Then maybe it's better if you try the whole thing out live. How? You'll find out in the next section.

Live-Test

Here is a short description for a quick start on your own server - for the impatient.

1. Download

Download the latest version of CMSimple_XH (via the DOWNLOAD button on top of this site) to your computer. Unpack the ZIP archive into a folder of your choice.

The unzipped folder contains some README files in different languages, at least one of which you should read. There is also a folder cmsimplexh, which contains the entire CMS. The entire contents of this folder must now be uploaded to your server.

2. Get it on the server

With an FTP program (there are enough good ones free of charge) you connect to your server. Now select the desired directory and upload the whole contents (important: the contents!) of the folder cmsimplexh. Ready.

3. Watch

After just these two steps you can now view the uploaded pages. To do this, call the address of your webspace in your browser.

For example:
www.example.com
or, if you've copied to a subfolder:
www.example.com/subfolder.

4. Own Contents

Of course, this is not your own website - you can see the sample contents of the delivery condition. You're gonna change that.

As with any other CMS, you have to log into the system to make changes. To do so, click on Login at the bottom of the page you just uploaded. The default password at delivery is simply test.

You remember the README files mentioned earlier? Good. Now you should quickly change the default password as described there.

Then you can add your content as you like. You can delete the sample pages - after you have read them (!). You can create your own pages. You can change the look of the website with a template change "at the push of a button". You can install Plugins for advanced features. And much more ...

5. Done

Well, wasn't that simple?

Of course, there are still questions to be answered. Look around on the content overview. There's a lot of information about CMSimple_XH.

Have fun with XH!
